This year we are offering a discipleship program that is different than anything we’ve had in a while. We would like to help you to grow in your relationship with God at whichever stage you find yourself. If you are new to the whole “church thing”, we’d like to introduce you to who Jesus is and to help you to get to know Him. If you’ve turned your life over to the Lord Jesus, we’d like to help you to grow and to prepare for all that God has in store for your life. “Uncommon Accountability” is designed to help you to develop the habit of daily Bible reading and prayer, scripture meditation and memorization, and regular service to others.
1. Bible Reading and Prayer Time
Unlike previous years when we assigned devotionals, we are giving you the option to choose which devotional or Bible study you’d like to use for your personal time in God’s word. Very soon, you will see a list of links to online devotionals. If you don’t already know what you’re going to read, feel free to use one of those devotionals. *You don’t have to use a devotional. The Bible alone is great, too. We will include links to online Bibles as well.
It is also important to spend time in prayer every day. God knows all about you, but we don’t develop friendships with people by eavesdropping. We do it by talking to them. The same holds true for God. He cares about us and wants us to talk to Him.
Requirement: Each day, write down what you read on the log sheet provided (Bible passage and devotional topic if you’re using a devotional). Also, please write one thing that you prayed about.
2. Meditating on God’s word and memorizing it
About every two weeks, we have a new verse to memorize. As you memorize the verses, take some time to think about how they apply to you and please share a way in which the verse was made real to you or was relevant to your life during that verses two weeks.
If over the course of time, a previous verse comes to mind in a real life situation, please feel free to share that! We’d love to hear it!
Requirement: Memorize 2 assigned Bible passages per month and write down one way that each was relevant to you life.
*If you need help with memorization, please come early to Dive In or Connect and Mrs. Hill will work on it with you.
3. Service
The body of Christ is one body but has many parts. The body works best when all of the parts perform their functions. Please keep your eye open for ways to serve the Lord.
Requirement: Share on your log sheet how you did at least one act of service.
4. Leadership
This is not required but is encouraged. Please share on your log sheet how you have taken the lead in ways that honor God.
You may earn $50 or $100 toward snow camp or summer camp by completing and turning in your monthly log sheets and reciting your verses to a youth leader!
